Sponsored by Koinonia, Acts2Fellowship, and Kairos Christian fellowships, NSWN09 is  a night of rocking praise, videos, skits, and a thought-provoking message. So if you know anyone coming to Cal this fall, tell them to come!

Here’s a video trailer for the event.

Praiseband Bloopers: Made Me Glad – Gracepoint Hsinchu Band

Straight from Hsinchu, Taiwan comes our next in this series of praise bloopers. This is one of the most painful ones that we’ve got but just to give some credit to the Electric guitarist who is at Gracepoint Hsinchu, Kan L. dropped his guitar right before praise started so he had no idea it was waaaay out of tune. But one has to wonder, why keep playing? Just stop right? And then that begs the question, why didn’t Jon who’s leading stop?

Well because they didn’t Gracepoint Worship blog presents Gracepoint Hsinchu’s very own rendition of “Made Me Glad”!

Praiseband Bloopers: Lord Reign in Me

Hey there readers of Gracepoint Worship blog, just wanted to announce a new genre here called Praiseband Bloopers. Aside from what you see on Fridays and Sundays, we are all human and do make the mistakes. Just to prove that point and hopefully add some joy to your day, here’s the first one.

The context (From David):

It was the weekend of the college retreat with Pastor Ed and Kelly Kang, so Sunday Worship Service  at Berkeley Gracepoint was just the Praxis group.  As a result, we had a certain Praxis director whos four letter name starts with T and ends with Y leading along with Po, Richard on drums, Eric (electric guitar debut), guitar (I think Eileen), bass (Richard teej) and singers Debbie and myself. The reason why it happened was because we were supposed to repeat the last chorus, but as the song was going I think people forgot or were unsure and at the last minute decided to bail out which left him hanging.  ouch.  the cost of being the praise leader I guess.  🙂

What's that song? "Return"

Many of you have requested more details of song we sang this past Tuesday at the weekly Gracepoint Fellowship Church prayer meeting. Kelly Kang, who leads our prayer meeting introduced the song “Return” by Jon Klinepeter. You can find the song on iTunes under the album Eucharist. He is apart of  a band called ‘Mission‘. You can also download the song chart on their site here.

EI8HT HOUR SHIFT comes to Gracepoint Berkeley!

gracepoint berkeleyWe certainly had a different praise experience this past Friday – instead of our normal MYT and Bible Study, we started with Bible Study and then had our first ever concert here at Gracepoint Fellowship Church with Eight Hour Shift, a Christian alternative rock band featuring Pastor Jon Choi, the speaker at our most recent Gracepoint Summer Institute. For those of you who remember, in addition to teaching us some new insights on the Old Testament, Pastor Jon Choi also entertained us with some pretty awesome acoustic guitar solos last time he was here. Well, this time he came back with his band – and they were a lot of fun. There were a lot of great moments to remember, from the testimonies to the different instrumental solos to hearing the only Asian guy that I’ve ever seen singing scat. I personally enjoyed the way they incorporated a lot of jazz riffs into their music – it’s been awhile since I heard music like that!

But, even more amazing is the way that all of the members of the band are not just musicians who like to get together to praise God, but also the fact that they are all leaders in their own respective ministries around the country as well, serving God as best as they know how. It’s great that they can get together and fellowship with each other and serve God and people like us in this way as well!
